TiE Carolinas conducts an annual entrepreneurship program (TYE) that is designed specifically for high-school students. The winners of the regional Carolina tournaments proceed to the global tournament. We are proud to announce that our 2023 regional winner (The Drug Detectives) went on to win TYE Globals (competing against ~25 teams from the US, Asia, and Europe). Our 2024 regional winner (SoberRide) placed 3rd globally and was invited to attend CES in January 2025. Our 2025 program is on-going!

TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) is designed to help high school students develop business acumen and experience the rewards of entrepreneurship through a combination of instructor-led and mentor-facilitated sessions. Students learn beyond the classroom by working in teams, conducting research, building resilience, and developing real-world skills. Each session introduces students to a new business concept through interactive lessons, presentations, activities, and games that reinforce what they have learned. Students then apply these concepts to their own ventures during team meetings, allowing them to build their ideas from the ground up. Teams use a design thinking approach to develop ideas for products or services they would like to bring to the marketplace. Working under the mentorship of experienced entrepreneurs and industry leaders, students research and validate their ideas with customers, build prototypes, develop go-to-market strategies and financial plans, and receive direct feedback throughout the process. Students also gain experience presenting their ideas, collaborating with their teams, and turning ideas into real-world opportunities. Toward the end of the program, teams compete at the regional level for cash awards. The regional winner goes on to compete at the global competition for additional cash awards.

This is a very competitive program and requires commitment that ramps up to 3-4 hours per week over the 6-7 month duration of the program.

Enrollment Fee: $650 ($500 for prior students and $500 for early bird registrants)
